Following could be avoided

Purpose of a Sniper is forgotten: When you have a sniper then why do you need to go near the target to shoot it DHARANI? Have you not seen any sniper movie or played any sniper game in PS3?

Simbu is not a Superman: Simbu flies like a kite pulled by ropes, nothing seems to be real.

Cars and Jeeps fly without a reason: Action means not making the cars and jeeps fly with your filthy fireworks.

Showing SIMBU like HULK: Dharani you have made the audience laugh at Simbu rather that bringing out that real anger in him.

My review on other things in the movie:

Story: Remake of the hindi movie DABANG [Not copied properly]

Music: Taman is still amateur [‘Eeram’ was and is your best]

Comedy: Santhanam, as usual [Hides everybody when he is on screen]

Simbu : Acting was good but not used by Dharani as Gautham in VTV [We expect more from you Simbu]

Cinematography: Normal and nothing special. [Could have tried some different angles]

Richa: Beautiful

Bottomline: Santhanam will not let your hopes down.

Engeyum Epodhum Movie Review - waste of time

Engeyum Epodhum, its not a story towards action / love / thriller / anything. Just 1 message to save you life - "Drive slowly so U can avoid accident"., that's it, a 2 minute commercial would have done that in a better way. Even then, the accident at the end of the movie will not happen due to over speeding of the bus. There will be a sheet of plastic paper or something like that, will hide the driver's wind shield so the driving gets distracted.

To me its just waste of time. Better commercials are seen on 'Doordarshan'. Murugadoss - waste of your money and mere waste of our time!

Ajith is the confidence for the movie. He is awesome ! He is a real hero with the confidence on what he does. I got the same feel as Kamal hassan's opening in 'Vetayaadu Vilayaadu' - the same stone confidence!

Direction for Venkat Prabhu is greatly appretiated. He has seen and shown Ajith from the eye of a fan. An Ajith fan gets every thing he expects from an Ajith movie.

MUSIC is OK, to be frank,but the Ajith and movie theme was good. Yuvan we expected something like BILLA, but you failed it man.

Arjun plays an important role and fights against Ajith. He calls him 'My Thala' and the theatre is shaken with the response from the crowd.

Story : it is more predictable and goes around stole money! First half like the 'Italian Job' and then the ususal masala.

Highlights:

The real fast Potter movie. The wait has ended. I expected much more but the director Yates did what he can, it should have been given to mike Newell.

'Unknown' is a movie that tells you the exact story only in the last 10 min. It is an excellent piece of work. You could see the maturity of Hollywood Cinema and the screenplay is amazing.
Like the 'Taken' Liam Neeson has done brilliantly. Not much action, but the story and screenplay makes it more interesting.

It is the story of terrorist trying to hit the target and how one of them will stop them doing that. You cannot make out the story until the end of the movie. Never miss this one, its worth watching.

The movie lovers must watch it.

Payanam Movie Review

Payanam, I never knew Dir. Radha mohan can do such movies. It was an amazing movie. Its all the story of a plane hijacked and how our Indian cops save the passengers. Its a comedy-thriller, it sounds as a new category but it will not be like 'Saroja'.

We must appreciate Prakash Raj for producing this movie, he has encouraged the Tamil Cinema to its next level. This is a calculated risky try in making a movie in tamil, like Speed and Die Hard.

This is what Tamil cinema needs, how long can we have the masala kinds of movies. This is what Hollywood has done 20 years age.

Nagarjun is still a hero, impressive. Prakash Raj as usual, excellent performance.

Direction : Good
Story line : Good
Actors : Very natural
Music : Would have been much better in the background score

Bottom Line : A must watch movie, a new successful venture in Tamil Cinema.

The theme of the movie is on crime and investigation.
Plot : The plot is to find the missing girls and to capture the gang doing this kidnapping.
Phase : Slow, it could have been a bit faster.
Cinematography : Nothing extrodinary.
Direction : Forgot about the speed of the movie.

Mistakes :
1.Why did not the hero use his gun while he was chasing the Qualis SUV.
2. When the Qualis hit the Scorpio on the left side front doot, how can it be opened.
But the output is a dragging movie.

Adukalam Movie Review

Adaukalam, it's a story about the Rooster fights in the southern Tamil Nadu villages. I thought the director has nothing to shoot in this world.
The movie trend is moving forward, but some directors hesitate to move forward.

In one line - just waste of time. I heard someone say that 2.5 years are spend on this film, but for me it's a waste of time.

In the movie starting, the director says, it's all because of this incident and the movie starts from there, till the end it did not connect to the incident that he mentioned in the beginning.

Direction : Nothing very special, and tries to show something in a big way, but it failed and was not worthy for the story.

Camera : Usual one

Music : GV Prakash has give an extraordinary composition for a worthless movie.

Female lead role : Very unnatural and irritating, also has a love affair that will not be true in real life.

Loop holes :

Review: Nothing to review; If you want to waste your time you can do it.

Bottom line : Dhanush's acting is totally wasted

Man Madan Ambu - Review

Man Madan Ambu, the purpose of this movie is just to make a movie and nothing else. No matter where you shoot, Paris, Barcelona and anywhere, is it actually necessary for the story? Is there anything like 'storyline' in the first place? It is not a worthy story or I think it was served in a wrong form.

Sorry Kamal Sir we expected more out of you.

Impressive one was Kamal Hassan's acting, next was the cinematography of the song with his wife as per the movie.

My idea is, it would be an interesting movie if it was a thriller rather than a comedy. It was a wrong story for comedy and the dialogues did not help much.

There were lot of unnecessary characters as usual,

- Ramesh Arvind and Urvasi Characters
- Producer Character and his wife.
- May be we can accept Sangeetha [Trisha friend]
- Kids - may be 1.

The characters are for the story and NOT the story for characters.

If I would have directed it then, I would have made it as a thriller. The hero is the private spy agent who works on highly confidential stuff and I would have not shown both Kamal and Maddy talking. I would have kept the person to whom Kamal reports as a secret. Include an assasination plan around Thrisha by some ill wisher. I would have shown Kamal as that killer and amuse Trisha and the audience finally when he saves her. There I would have shown Maddy and Kamal, and their conversation is learnt by Trisha and she is impressed by Kamal's actions and words.

Directing a movie is not a simple thing, we cannot do the same way for all the films.
My apologies, if I would have hurted anyone.

What is Cinema?

Tamil Cinema has gone too far away than it was imagined a few years back. 'Endhiran' told entire other Indian Film Industries that " We are growing ". Of course this has challenged the 'considered number 1 Indian Film Unit - 'Bollywood'. It also show that the talents can't be just hidden or waved out.

On the other hand what is a Cinema? Showing a real happened story, a dream on screen, someone's happiness or sorrow on the screen? what is it? It is a magic that makes you to believe for those 180 minutes. May be the effect of that magic continues if that was a good intense magical spell.

How many film makers can create the magic? This is a million dollar question. What do you need to know to throw that magical spell? Anybody can do it if he knows that spell. It all depends on how you make the audience believe in your script.

The author or the director, both has equal parts in this, has to make the audience sit anxiously for the next moment on the magic. This has to continue for the next 180 minutes starting from minute 1. This is the ultimate secret for a good cinema, rest are all the extras.

But this is a good news, both compete each other and eventually make the Tamil Film Industry to Top Bollywood.

Of course we can make it, as you all know that Sharukh Khan is using all the technicians of ‘Enthiran’ for his new film. What we don’t have?

Enthiran Review - Shankar made a brilliant bull shit

Enthiran - the much awaited movie... I sat with all the expectations. The movie started with the title and not any intro song like any other Rajini movie. It went straight to the subject and Rajini was a scientist, Aish his lover. He invents a Robot for the Indian army to replace soldiers and makes such a robot, but the robot fails the AIRD test due to the lack of knowledge of feelings, recognizing good and evil.

So Vasi- Rajini makes the robot to get the human feelings and that will turn the robot as his competition in the game of love. Of course Aish will reject. Because of this the robot fails in the Military test and Vasi will be disappointed and destroys it.

Rajini's professor and villan, is a rival to Rajini's outstanding invention. He finds the dismantled robot and modifys its code and turn it into an evil machine. At one point it kills the villan and starts producing the clones of himself. So its thousands of Rajini robot all over the place.

It also kidnaps Aish, The hero Rajini will fight against it and removes the dirty chip from the robot to bring it to normal. After all these chaos, the court ask to dismantle it and the robot will be put into a museum for students to study.

Pros:
A.R. Rahman's music keeps you seated and the background score is excellent.
Rajini has done his part fairly.
Aish - nice hip movements.

Cons:
Shankar - He made a brilliant bull shit in Graphics. It is not natural.
Can't such an experienced director sense the pulse of the audience?

The car chase scene, the Merc has been hit a number of times and the visuals show the crushed front side and in the next shot it comes with no damage in the frontside.
Car jumping scene - totally fucked up.
2 Sumos flying when Benz hits them from back - all are mere local graphics and stunts.

In the promotions, most of the cine artists and technicians were praising Shankar to be the first Tamil director in Hollywood? BULL SHIT, with this movie he is not even eligible to be a light boy at Hollywood.

Mosquito scene and talking is totally irritating and those mosquito names are more irritating. Not necessary at all.

Songs - Most of the songs are misplaced in the movie. Only 'Irumbilae oru Irudhayam', 'Kaadhal anukal', 'Arima' and the 'Chitti Theme' were ok in the movie.

Graphics - Idea was good but output is mere shit.

Remember Spiderman 3 graphics - the 'sand man', spiderman, 'Black evil spider' and the excellent graphics. Do you know where those were done? NOT IN HOLLYWOOD, it was done in CHENNAI, INDIA by 'Sony Imageworks', that is in Tidel Park.

Story line - Usual story that is already seen in iRobot and concept of worm from Independence day.

Costumes - Robotic costumes looks very local and it was like watching Ram Narayan's local film Graphics.

Cinematography - Randy has done a good job in 'Varanam Aayiram' may be Gautham Menon has a better sense of Cinematography.

Enthiran Audio Review

Its ultimate, what can one expect in a ROBOTIC movie.. All ROBOTIC music, but how much can you take it? Trust me! You can take in the entire 'Enthiran' music album. AR Rahman has proved it again that that he is worth the twin Oscars.

I'm not a Rahman fan, but I can boldly say that Rahman is simply Great! All songs are extremely good. It remembers me about the old Rahman music... like 'Thiruda Thiruda', Pudhiya Mugam, its like all the synthesizer music and lot of robotic music that make you wonder about what the instrument Rahman has used.

Take it this way...Listern to this order..

1. ' Irumbilaye oru Idhayam mulaikutho' : This song is sung by the Great Rahman, its simply superb! You will like it just by listerning to the first line. What a tune, Its God's gift to Rahman!
Nobody could have thought about such a tune for that kind of 'ok' lyrics. The music has taken the song to different heights, Rahman voice takes it to another higher altitude.

2. 'Arima Arima' : Sung by Hari haran, another great hit for him, the first intro lines are written for both Rahman and Rajini. Excellent orchestration.

3. 'Boom Boom Robo Theme' : What a bass? its excellent. It blows my car speakers! I use sony receiver and JBL speakers. USE THE ORIGINAL 'ENTHIRAN' AUDIO CD FOR GREAT SOUND EFFECTS, THOSE ARE FILTERED ONCE IT IS CONVERTED TO MP3.

4. 'Kilimanjaro' : It is not a folk, it a rhythmic song, lyrics could have been better, Rahman has made it pleasant to ears.

5. 'Puthiya Manitha' : I ts the intro song where Kathija Rahman has sung. Its another great piece for an intro.

6. 'Boom Boom' : sung by Yogi, Rap is ok but why Rahman chose Yogi, Blaze would be far better than Yogi. Blaze's lyrics are good and his Raps are excellent.

USE THE ORIGINAL 'ENTHIRAN' AUDIO CD FOR GREAT SOUND EFFECTS, THOSE ARE FILTERED ONCE IT IS CONVERTED TO MP3.

Original song size in audio CD = 45 MB
same song in MP3 = 4.5 MB

So you miss the quality by 10 times, imagine how much you miss! Trust me there are sound in this album that can be felt and not heard.

Superstar Rajinikaanth, on the stage called AR Rahman as a Siddha, a Yogi, he meant that they the persons without ego and heavy head. That is very true. The more exciting and surprising part is that, Rajini is a very simple person, I have seen him in Chennai, in a hospital, when he visited a person who was admited. He was very simple in plain white clothing, simple and down to earth who ever wished him.

You can never see such a humble person in India, imagine such a person calling AR Rahman as a simple, ego-less person. This is the best complement from Rajini for AR Rahman.

A 'Siddha' is the greates saint in the Hindu Religion, who is able to talk to God and the God's blessings are always on him. Without God's blessings one man cannot do this. AR Rahman is the Genius, Siddha, Yogi as far as the Musical domain is concerned.

He made the whole world to lend their ears to Indian music. I'm really proud to live in this era and to be an Indian.

Siddha and Yogi people who can win this entire world with just one thought, they are very powerful, Where does AR Rahman gets his music, just from his thought, God speaks to us through him. No matter if its Allah or Christ or Krishna, all three of them ask us to be compassionate towards other beings. This is what Rahman does, he is very kind and loving person. He has already mentioned this on the Oscar stage, 'I have a choice between Love and hate, I chose love and I'm here'. That pure love towards other beings has made him a siddha.

The great Siddha 'Vallalar' has done this before 150 years, its is the truth, you can check by yourself by visiting ' Vadalur' in Tamil Nadu State, India. He was the Siddha who transformed his body into light body and conquered death. It is unbelievable, but it has been done and proved scientifically by Vallalr.

Endhiran is the top selling album in US and UK, we also have Slum Dog Millionaire still in the top sellers list.

The songs are good and its futuristic, it is a real challenge to give the entire album in a robotic music. Rahman has done his best to get the songs as they required in a ROBO film. Robotic music is one difficult thing to do, imagine doing it for the entire film. Well that is not an easy Job.

“I wanted a child’s voice for a song and got Khatija to do it,” recalled Rahman, “The recording was at midnight and realising that, she said that she had school the next day and walked off. When I was discussing about calling someone else, she came back promptly and sung for it!”

Endhiran is, in fact, a perfect superstar album. Where the collection does manage to veer from the usual, Rahman has managed to add his own quirky, creative notes to the songs.

Parts of the album actually rise above the usual flattering themes and do create a unique musical experience. It might not be the brilliant effort reserved for off-beat works but this is a mainstream entertainer, and the maestro has put together numbers that make an intriguing listen.

Billa a milestone in Tamil Cinema, Ajith has stunned the entire Tamil Film Industry with his style and look. It quite happy to know that 'Billa 2' is getting ready. It will be a treat for us.

Now the latest news on the actor-director duo is out. Vishnuvardhan is all set to partner again with Ajith for the sequel on Billa. Sources confirm that Vishnu is ready with the script and is waiting for confirmation of dates from Ajith. It is confirmed that the shooting of Billa 2 will commence from early 2011. Whether Ajith will start Billa 2 after his next with Venkat Prabhu is still not known. We will have more news on this soon. Watch this space for more!!

Endhiran Hit or Flop

The Tamil Cinema audience has seen some sci-fi movies in the past, but it all were flops for instance Vikram[Kamal hassan], New[SJ Suriyah] are some of them. How could we expect 'Endhiran' to be hit?

Reason for the flop :
The audience were not that much sci-fi lovers
They were not ready to believe these gizmos. But how come the hollywood sci-fi are definately a hit in India? like 'Back to the future', 'Starwars', 'Independence Day', 'Matrix', 'Inception', 'Terminator', 'Robocop' and a never ending list. The reason I believe is that, they have given such a natural output that made us believe what we saw was real. Can the Tamil Industry Technicians do that? Can we bring such a natural output?

This is the real challenge?

The success of visual effects is that, it should not be seen or found out in the film. But the indian cinemas show the graphics part as graphics, its clearly identified like which is real and which is CG.

So this is a big challenge from the CG department. Next is the audience, does our Tamil audience ready to accept another Tamil Sci-Fi movie?

These are to be answered by 'Endhiran'.

Mistakes in Sivaji-The Boss
There were some minor mistakes in Sivaji too, but why did not dir. Shankar aware of it.

Gautham Vasudev Menon's next directorial venture Nadunisi Naigal is in the final stages of shooting, his production house Photon Kathaas is also wrapping up the final schedule for "Veppam". We know that Gautham likes to do things differently.

Gautham has decided to release the audio for Nadunisi Naigal and Veppam on the same day, on the same stage. Now if you think that takes some guts to do it, read ahead. It is also rumored that Gautham is planning to release both the movies on the same day. Phew! Now if this happens, it will be one hectic day of his life for the producer and director Gautham.

KS RAVIKUMAR and MANMADHAN AMBU

Director KS Ravikumar and Kamal Haasan are back with the Manmadhan Ambu team. A major portion of the film was shot on a cruise in France, Spain and Italy and according to the director about 90 percent of MA has been shot already.

The remaining schedules will be shot in Kodaikanal and Chennai. Meanwhile, the MA team is working on the re-recording along with music director Devi Sri Prasad. Our Kollywood sources say that the team would go to Kodaikanal in the next few days to start the next schedule.

This is because the producers wished to have the Chief Minister's presence at the event. Recording of the message was held at the Kalaignar TV studios recently in Chennai. This message will be screened alongside the keynote address at the audio launch event.

Producers SUN Pictures recently decided to conduct the audio launch of Endhiran in Malaysia on the 31st of July. Although the invitees list is not out yet, the event is rumored to attract the kingpins of the industry including the film's lead pair Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai.

Evelyn Salt the character are perpetually in motion and that's a good thing for its own sake and because it keeps audiences from dwelling on how unapologetically preposterous the plot in question is.

And really, who goes to summer action movies for cast-iron logic anyway? Or for plausible characters, for that matter? You go for brisk stunts expertly executed, for well-directed action that doesn't allow you to catch your breath and for one of the preeminent action stars of our time. Yes, that would be Angelina Jolie.

With what she does here on top of "Lara Craft: Tomb Raider," "Wanted" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," Jolie has earned the right to be considered not a potent female action star but a potent action star period, end of story.

What makes her so good, and what is visible as she deftly navigates the unending silliness of "Salt," are traits that add up to a fierce commitment to action, a determination to make the role of a CIA agent who literally and metaphorically takes no prisoners as convincing as she can.

For one thing, although aided by stunt double Eunice Huthart, Jolie is athletic and fearless enough to do many of her own stunts, including nervy scenes of jumping from moving truck to moving truck (albeit done with the aid of cables and harnesses that were removed in post-production).

The actress is also expert at projecting the ice cold fury that makes "Salt's" fight scenes strong. Jolie's don't-mess-with-me fierceness is palpable, and it allows her to angrily throw herself into the martial arts action like she means every blow she strikes.

Her casting makes all the difference in a part that would be completely standard if a man played it. (One of the well-known ironies of Jolie's success in "Salt" is that screenwriter Kurt Wimmer originally wrote the role for a man.). It is the contrast between what cultural conditioning in general and Hollywood movies in particular tell us about women's roles and what Jolie can in fact accomplish that holds our interest here.

Madharasapattinam Review

Arya has performed well in the film madrasapattinam. He acts as a washer man in the film and emy jackson plays the role of a British lady. The main story is focused on the pair’s love. This story happens in the period of 1945-1947. The Director Vijay took care that the movie doesn’t get the label of a patriotic film and the amount of focus of the freedom struggle will be equal to that of main star cast love story. The story starts in Britain with a funeral where a old British lady is seen sad and later she is found to have some clot on the brain. She wishes to go to India to complete her uncompleted works.

The contemporary Chennai evokes periodic flashbacks in her memory and that’s how we meet a dhobi and wrestler Ilamparidhi, also called Paridhi (Arya), who lived in the pre-Independence period of India. Paridhi, from the dhobi (washer man) community, lives in Washermanpet area, and washes the clothes of the British people. Amy’s meeting with Paridhi coincides with his community’s fight against the government’s decision to build a Golf ground in the colony of dhobis. They love each other and her father comes to know about their love and orders his men to kill paridhi secretly and sends emy to delhi. But emy escapes from the train and comes to madras in search of paridhi. The rest is the climax of the film.

Velayutham - Vijay's next flick - ANOTHER TELUGU COPY?

3 Idiots movie Tamil remake

Dir. Shankar has planned to remake '3 Idiot' in Tamil and Telugu, star cast would be Vijay, Madhavan and Simbhu. Music score will be done by Yuvan Shankar Raja as A.R.Rahman is very busy with 'Jai Ho' Concert all around the world.

Shankar already had an non-Rahmanic experience, I still don't understand why he wants to do it again. It is a remake of a Hindi - Aamir Khan film, so the audience will be definitely less and even if its a non-Rahmanic Shankar movie then we cannot expect much response. The movie that was awaited with lot of hopes and ideas, I stepped into the theatre with all these in my mind. It all started with huge applause for AR Rahman, Mani Ratnam, Vikram and Aishwarya Rai.

Intro of the movie started with the kidapping of Aishwarya Rai, it was done well then it went as usual as any other old Tamil movies with the concept of revenge for the sister sentiment. I was wondered if it was a Mani Ratnam film? I waited till the intermission, even then it did not say anything about the way Mani takes the movie.

I waited till the end, even then it did not show any style of Mani Ratnam. The locations were good, but it was not worthy to watch a movie just for the locations and scenery.

Another shock was, AR Rahman's music was not utilized at all. The expected and the hit song ' Usuryae Poguthey ' was played in the background with some dialogues in between and the ' Veera ' song is a title song. Have you imagined this? What a song it was... all wasted by Mani in this film.

Most of the fans were deeply disappointed.

Actor Karthick was wasted, we expected some complex plot when we cam to know Karthick, Priyamani, Ranjith and Prabhu were in the cast. The only happy thing was the good songs from AR Rahman.

People were screaming when each and every song started.

Mani has given tremendous works like 'Agni Natchathiram, Nayagan, Thalapathy, Alaipaayuthey, Kannathil Muthamittaal, Iruvar...' 'Ravanan' does not even stand anywhere near to the previous works. It is not like a Mani's film.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya Climax

Indian Directors, most of them end their frames with a predictable climax and very rare movies have SENSIBLE twists and climax. Once such kind is Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, Gautham has done it beautifully, first he tells that all love between Trisha and Simbu ends in marriage, but once we think its all over he reveals that it happened so in the movie that Simbu [Karthick] directed.

Then he shows the reality that its not Trisha and Simbu but it was in the movie he shot. Then what happend to Simbu and trisha, its LOVE and its only LOVE...

I remember the 'Sixth sense' movie where only in the end you realise that Bruce Willis is a spirit too and it thrills a lot, same way Gautham has handled that technique very well.

As far as the tamil audiance, they may not like this different end but they will love it after 2 days of watching the movie.

Watch it in a theatre [good one like Satyam in Chennai]....

A.R.Rahman - definitely he deserves an Oscar again,
Simbu - Best acting, lot of potential in him has be brought out,
Gautham - He is simply great, he makes the Tamil film Industry proud again.

Folks Gautham + AR Rahman = Blockbuster has been proved.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya Movie Review..

I personally think that the movie is worth watching, Gautham has again tried to be different. But I don't know about the reaction of the audience. Opportunities come once or twice, we should prove ourselves in those, this is what Simbu has done. Well done Simbu...you have proved that no good characters have been given to you. No 'punch' dialogues, no unnecessary action sequences, Simbu as simple as Simbu.

On the musical part Rahman has done a great job on backgrounds and as usual the songs make you sit on seats. Songs could have been shot better, I know its difficult but, the song videos were never as 'Vaaranam Aayiram'. 'Hosanaa' was the first to appear on screen, but was not at all shot well. Sorry Gautham, we expect more, please take it as a motivation. I'm not against you, I wanted to work with you, but I did not get a chance to do it. Every time, except 'Vaaranam Aayiram' and 'Vetaiyaadu Vilayaadu', you have missed it.

From our point of view, the make of 'Tamizh Padam' has done a good job, it is not easy to spoof a movie scene in a very comic and comedy way. CS Amuthan, the director has done it brilliantly. Ajith ASAL movie Review

Ajith who went off the radar in his last 'Aegan', is back fit and fine in 'Asal'. And perhaps to compensate the 'Aegan' disappointment, he hogs all the limelight giving audience a double delight in the movie.

Though the story is not new, it is all about style and substance and the film is loaded with rich visuals and breathtaking sequences, making it a quality outing.

When a hit pair comes together, the expectations always bound to be high. So when Ajith and director Saran, who have back to back successes under their belt ('Kadhal Mannan', 'Amarkkalam' and 'Attagasam') joined hands for 'Asal', there was an air of expectancy.

'Asal' not just rises up to that level, but also good in its own way especially because Ajith is energetic and Saran efficient. Their good vibes are evident on screen.

Sivaji Productions deserves all credit, for at a time when the film industry is facing some troubled times, a production house going all guns without anything in mind but to come out with a quality product, deserves applause.

Unlike their earlier outings, Saran and Ajith have consciously chosen not to load the movie with mass hero matters and commercial elements alone. The intelligence in 'Asal' lies in giving them in the under current as the story flows. At the same time, the film has not disappointed 'Thala' fans too as they have moments to rejoice in cinema halls.

Yuhi Sethu, who is known as a taut screenplay writer, has ensured that the script has no loose ends and there is no logical lapse. Of course, with Ajith's name as co-director, it makes one sit up and watch. The actor seems to have involved himself in the filmmaking department knowing his strength and the taste of his ardent-fans.

Jeevanathan (Ajith) is an arms dealer in France who supplies artillery only to the government. His sons are Sam (Sampath Raj), Prasad (Rajeev Krishna) and Shiva (Ajith). Sam and Prasad sideline Shiva all the time.

When the elder sons decide to strike a deal to sell weapons to a terror group, trouble breaks out. In spite of their father's resistance, they go ahead with their plans with the help of their uncle (Milind). Crossing swords with them is a Mumbai-based group led by Shetty (Kelly Dorji).

What starts from here is a battle between brothers, besides their war with the competitors. The swiftness in the screenplay begins here. It is from here the movie takes a roller-coaster ride.

There is Sara (Sameera Reddy), who works in Franch Embassy and falls for Ajith. The scene-stealer here is Sulabha (Bhavana). Her scenes especially on Valentine's Day is rip-roaring fun. Meanwhile there is Daniel Dharmaraj (Suresh) a French cop who adds twits to the tale.

Though influence of Hollywood movies like 'Payback' could not be avoided especially in the second half, one can forget the fact since 'Asal' is a rich attempt that is bright and beautiful. The conviction in narration and character establishment (except that of villains) is praiseworthy. Yuhi Sethu as Don Samosa provides lighter moment in the movie.

It's Ajith's aura all through. He brings all the necessary tricks involved to make the double role look different and also appeal to the masses. As father, he is stylish and elegant. As the son, he is committed. Though the former comes for just 15 minutes on screen, he walks away with all applause. Ajith is willing and efficient. He has a raw passion and comes out shining in the double role. He has the right nuances to differentiate the two characters. After a brief gap, one could see the actor fresh and fine in dance sequences too. He carries the story on his broad shoulders. The film’s success is mainly due to him. If 'Billa' showed him oozing all stylish, 'Asal' showcases him on roles with style and substance.

Sameera Reddy is chirpy and vivacious. Happy that Kollywood has an actress who combines glamour with performance. It's a welcome break for Bhavana. The actress understanding the responsibility on her seems to have taken the role in her stride and renders enough justice to it.

As usual, Prabhu (who is the producer too) has been breezy and impressive on his part, while the rest of the cast do have a part to play in the script.

Prashanth D Mishalae, a former associate of Nirav Shah, is simply the man of the moment. His lens has given the whole movie a fresh coat. Stylish and suave all through, the cinematography sets up the momentum. Especially those sequences in France with different tone and colour, is a revelation to Tamil cinema.

Movies on underworld or those about a don do always have some breathtaking stunt sequences and so does ‘Asal’. The stunt choreographers including William Ong, Kanal Kannan, Thalapathi Dinesh, Patrick Bruneton have done justice to opportunities provided to them.

Bharadwaj seems to have repeated the magic (if you are ready to forget the background score). The songs are pleasant to listen to. Watch out for 'Em Thandhai...' and 'Tottadoing...', they rock in the theatres.

To sum it up, Ajith, Saran and Bharadwaj have the struck the right chord again- for 'Asal' in an unpretentious entertainer. Apart from the storyline, everything seems to be original here.

The second verdict

The Ajith-Saran combination is at it again. Asal is in theaters and it is celebration time for all Ajith fans. The stakes are bigger this time with Asal being Ajith’s 49th film and it is also special because the titles of the film name Ajith as co-director of the movie. He is also credited for the story, screenplay and dialogues along with Saran and Yuhi Sethu. So, has the additional responsibility and control for Ajith worked well for Asal?

Asal is a story of feud between three brothers over property; two brothers (Sampath Kumar and Rajeev Krishna) on one side with their avarice for all the wealth with the righteous third trying to stop the family from breaking down. No marks for guessing who is the righteous one, who else but Ajith Kumar?! The feud that exists as an undercurrent in the presence of their father (Ajith again) turns ugly and personal after he passes away. It grows bigger with the two brothers joining in to elbow out Ajith. He graciously steps aside, only wanting to keep cordial relations. But, the two brothers are just not able to handle the huge wealth and the responsibility that it brings. Their wealth attracts trouble and it is up to Ajith to come back and save his brothers. Do things end there or does
Asal

the feud continue, does wealth disintegrate the family and how does Ajith conquer all the odds? Watch Asal to find out.

The first and most important thing about Asal is that it is an out and out Ajith movie. Not that anyone needs to be told this, it is an obvious fact. But, Asal is a full length celebration of Ajith’s persona, something his fans will absolutely adore. But, the film does have its weak points too. It is indeed sad that such a potential team ended up shooting a rather weak script. The main defect here is the characters sketch of the villains. They just don’t seem menacing or threatening enough to stand up to Ajith. It robs the excitement out of the confrontations making it look like cakewalks for Ajith. The only strong negative character (Kelly Dorji) is finished off prematurely which also stunts the growth of Ajith’s character. It is also pretty dampening that the much expected Ajith double act is only there for the first few minutes in the film. It should also be said that the opening sequences of the film do leave you a bit disappointed; the intros just don’t pack a punch. But, on the brighter side, the script does manage to throw a few surprises when you least expect them, like the one at the interval point. Saran has been successful in keeping the viewer guessing about certain things right until the end. The climax portions however should have been better. The finish looks literally forced into the script, with a fight inside a warehouse. There is not much room for romance. But, whatever little is there looks good. The silent tussle between Sameera and Bhavana over who gets Ajith is cute and Saran could have extended it a bit. One thing about the movie that could have been much better is the placement of songs; most of them look like appendages hanging loosely out of the main narrative.

As said above, this movie is all about Ajith and his persona. It would not be wrong to say that at many points it seems as if Ajith, the star, has been given more importance than the script itself. Trust Ajith to carry off a larger than life role with ease. He strides the screen with ease, having a presence that few others can boast of. He looks stylish in every frame; the hairstyle, the sideburns and the cigar sit well on him. In fact, Ajith’s presence is one of the main factors that stops one from getting bored. Sampath, Rajeev Krishna and Pradeep Rawat do their jobs as villains without too great an impact. As said above, their characters look like weak adversaries for Ajith. Sameera Reddy has a role of consequence in the movie and does pretty well, but there is no huge scope for performance. Bhavana looks cute in a role that demands only as much. She however impresses with her dance moves in the first part of the Dushyantha song. Yuhi Sethu tries hard to provide a few comic moments, succeeding partially on the rare occasion; his side kicks trying hard with a few gimmicks as well. Prabhu is a dignified presence.

The fact that this is a film made under Sivaji Productions can be sensed in the way the film has shaped up. The producer has left no stone unturned to make the film look rich, slick and sophisticated throughout. Be it the sets, the interiors, the locations or costumes, no expense has been spared. The story is set mainly in France, with a portion happening in Mumbai. The richness of the streets France has been transferred beautifully onto screen by Prashanth’s camera. The camerawork keeps the viewer visually pleased, partially compensating for flaws in the script. Action should have been better. Only the fight between Ajith and Kelly close to the interval stirs up excitement, it is plain on all other occasions. Music by Bharadwaj does not lend any strength to the movie, except Dushyantha and the BGM looks pretty unimaginative. Dialogues focus mostly on the word ‘Thala’ and the different ways in which it can be used. Imaginative for sure, but it could have been toned down a bit. Nevertheless, it does provide fans with an opportunity to cheer loudly.

Asal is a complete Ajith centric entertainer with lots of style and sophistication. Yes, the script is weak and there are other flaws too, but the movie does not leave you bored or exasperated. Ajith satisfies his fans, but Saran disappoints a bit with the way he has handled such a great team, better results were definitely on. Visually pleasing with about 2.5 hours of running time, Asal is will not have you yawning, nor will it have you asking for more.

A R Rahman to score for Kalaignar M Karunanidhi

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has penned a song exclusively for the forthcoming World Classical Tamil conference to be held on the month of June. Oscar Award winner A R Rahman is composing music for this song. The World Classical Tamil conference is to be held in Coimbatore from June 24th to June 27th. Elaborate arrangements are being made to conduct this conference in a fitting manner.

It seems many Tamil learned scholars from all corners of the world will participate in this conference since this is the first conference after Tamil was recognized as classical language by the Government of India. Because of this, the Chief Minister has penned a song exclusively for this conference. A R Rahman who recently received the Padma Bushan award is for the first time composing the music for the lyrics penned by Kalaignar Karunanidhi. In connection with this A R Rahman had met the Chief Minister at his residence.

He also informed the Chief Minister that he would be leaving for Los Angeles since he has been nominated for the Grammy Awards. The Chief Minister in turn wished him good luck. Indian music maestro A R Rahman struck gold once again, bagging two trophies at the 52nd Grammy [ Awards in Los Angeles for his music in Slumdog Millionaire

The composer, who has already won a Golden Globe [ Images ] and two Academy awards, registered wins in both the categories he was nominated for.

He was the earliest winner in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for a motion picture category and picked up another trophy for his song Jai Ho in the Best Motion Picture song category moments later.

"This is insane, God great again," the 44-year-old composer said while accepting the golden gramophones.

Rahman beat Steve Jordan for Cadillac Records, Quentin Tarantino [ Images ] for Inglourious Basterds [ Images ], the producers of Twilight and True Blood to bag the award in the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture category.

In the Best Song category, Rahman's rivals included Bruce Springsteen for his song The Wrestler, from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name.

Rahman's Grammy win was similar to his triumph at the Oscars [ Images ] last year where he picked up the Best Original Score statuette before winning the Oscar for Jai Ho, which has become an international anthem.

Karthika daughter of yesteryear actress Radha is making her debut in Kollywood through movie KO. She will star opposite Little super star Simbu in the movie. The film titled KO is directed by K.V.Anand, cinematographer turned film maker. This is her second movie overall, her career debut was in Telegu in the movie Josh.

If a popular actor’s son makes a debut, naturally the young star hogs all the limelight. But changing the norms is Radha’s daughter Karthika, whose debut movie ‘Josh’ opposite Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya is hitting the screens today.

On a par with Naga Chaitanya, she is also attracting enough attention, thanks to the waves created by her mom when she was the heartthrob of south Indian youngsters during the early 1980s.

“My mom is my everything. She is my role-model, mentor, friend and sister. It is because of her I am making my presence felt in the tinsel town,” says the budding actress.

Ishqiya, directed by Abhishek Chaubhey is a beautiful story involving love, drama and revenge. The movie has been produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and Raman Maroo. Gulzar has taken care of the lyrics and cinematography is by Mohana Krishna. Two if its songs, Dil to Bachcha Hain ji and Ibne Batuta have become a hit and are heavily downloaded from the net these days.

Ishqiya Story: Two thieves, Khalujan played by Naseeruddin Shah and Babban (Arshad Warsi) are on a run from their boss, Mustaq (Salim Shahid) Both Khalujan and Babban seek refuge with an old friend and instead meet his widow, Krishna played by Vidya Balan. As both the duo plan to escape, the time they spent with Krishna draws them close to her. Then starts the story of betrayal, revenge and greed starts.The first half passes off quite quicky and then the second half comes out with surprises and dramas.

Naseeruddin plays a romantic role and has perfromed brilliantly. Arshad Warsi will be seen in a completly different role from his performance in Munnabhais. Vidya Balan surprises everyone with a sparkling performance.

Over all a wonderful must watch movie with a riveting plot, great performance and an absorbing story.

The movie has been directed by none other than Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) and has Amitabh Bachchan, Reitiesh Deshmukh, Sudeep and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. The movie also has Gul Panag, Neetu Chandra, Rajat Kapoor, Mohnish Behl and Rajpal Yadav.

Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Vijay Harshvardhan Malik, a founder of a private news channel, India 24/7. Because of his journalistic ethics, his channel is battling it hard for survival. Jay, played by Sudeep, his son looks at his father's channel as a pure business enterprise and thinks that it must anyhow make profits to stay in the race and survive. He hates that his competitor, Mohnish Behl is doing it so well, better than him.

The story gets interesting when a corrupt politician, Mohan Pandey (Paresh Rawal) wants to use the channel to his advantage by using Amitabh's son-in-law Navin, played by Rajat Kapoor. Pandey aspires to be the Prime Minister and starts a vicious campaign against his political opponent.

Navin, an ambitious man, who wants to be the number one industrialist in the country, involves his brother-in-law, Jay in Pandey's game plan of campaigning against his opponent.

Amitabh has acted brilliantly yet again. Sudeep is dynamic and has performed superbly. Paresh Rawal after a series of comic roles, would once again be seen in a villianous role.

Well as all youth want to do that thing ( marry white girl) in their age group, so they are in the same hunt. They visit to Goa, want to enjoy their life and marry a white woman and settle abroad. But the real twist comes, when they are trapped in the some conspiracy involving all three of them for her death. The story begins from fun, enjoyment with a good comedy in beginning and the story diverts towards a thrilling end.

Goa is about a group of people who have a lot of expectations in life, but something unexpected happens which turns their lives into the best than what they had expected. Goa is a happy ride of friends, who visit Goa to enjoy their holidays and face a lot many twists and surprises in life. Sneha will be seen playing a negative role in the movie.

Jai, Premji,Vybhav and Aravind Akash are in search of their love in Goa. Piya will be seen paired opposite Jai and Sneha is playing the role of the ladylove of Vybhav and Premji loves Maloney Marie, an Australian actress. How does the love between Premji and Maloney Marie affect everyone's life, forms the story.

A thriller with a lot of drama and comedy. A must watch movie.

Direction would have been better, it seems close to realistic. Looks similar story line as of Hindi movie Jail where Neil Mukesh trapped without committing a crime and many time seen storyline.

Aayirathil Oruvan Review - a must watch movie

Aayirathil Oruvan, hats off to Selvaraghavan. He has done a magic in Tamil Cinema history. A new try, a new concept and it should to appreciated. The idea is very fresh and rare.

Storyline : Its the rival hit back of the Pandiyas on the Cholas even after many generations.

Even after generations the pandiyas are in search of the Cholas to hit them back. Pandiyas are now the current generation people living in Chennai or modern place, they have all powers of military and weapons. With all these they still search for the fled Cholas. Reema sen is one among the pandiyas...the story begins like this and the search continues.

Andrya, an archeologist and her father , Prathap pothan is one too. He went in search of the cholas and disappeared. His daughter , Andriya joins the team of Reema Sen to get back her father. Karthi is the leader of the workers group who come to help the search team.

My Comments :
The story is VERY VERY CLEAR, it is not like many people said to me. They said " Nobody will understand the story". If someone cannot understand this story, they are just time passers at the theater and unfit to watch a tamil - history making movie. Film making is an art, Selvaragavan has mastered it. Any body can make a commercial movie but this movie can't even be imagined by such directors.

Even Mani Ratnam's 'Iruvar' was a commercial flop but how many know that it is one of the technically strong movie by direction, story telling, screen play, lighting and so on. It is one of my lessons to film making. I have watched at least 20 times. When we watch a movie we need to look for how have they conceived every shot, what impact it creates, how is the output, what response does it gets from the audience and many more. I'm not a director but ,a want to be director before my lifetime ends.

Characters :

Reema Sen : 7/10
Karthi : 7/10
Andrya : 6/10
Parthiban : 7/10

Everybody has put in such a lot of efforts, especially Selvaragavan's direction gets 8/10.

Computer Graphics : Done very nicely, particularly the night shots and the effects to that were great. The arena fight was good but can be still improved.

Glowing sea shells : These s the crew and kill people while they walk in the less deep sea shore. Very good idea and a shocking one in theater.

The Sand pits : Superbly done. This make the audience to come forward from their seats.

Chola Caves : Excellent set, it will deserve the award.

The shadow of Shiva on the desert : This is what made me to think thrice, the concept was very good but the output did not come out well. Sun come on one side but how can the shadows come on all 360 degrees and they fade away in the same manner.

Music : GV Prakash has done one good song. Background score was not up to the greatness of the film. It moreover sounded like Prince of Persia. Score during the introduction of Parthiban and the revelation of Reema Sen can be more effective. I think Sub woofer was not used properly, then whats the point of dts. A.R.Rahman would have been a better choice, for this is a rivalry subject, think of 'Jodha Akbar', 'Guru', the background score takes the story and the shots to more heights. Anyway GV has not let it down, he has done an average work.

Costumes : Ultimate! Never seen costumes anywhere. He has worked out very much on the costumes, they give us the real feeling.

Lighting : It has very much on any shot, it engraves the night shots and the day shots at 'unmela aasai dhan' and the forest shots. All were totally mind blowing.

Bottomline : I have never seen such a piece of art and magic in Indian cinema history. A must watch movie. This is a movie to win the Indian National Award for 2010. I have no doubt on this..

12 -12-12 is where all rest in peace. Roland Emmerich has proved once again. I don’t know how he gets all these imagination…Its unbelievable visual effects that makes you to fasten your theater seat belts and shuts you silent for the entire movie.

It all starts in India , in a copper mine. An underground water tank inside the mine give highest temperatures and its shown to a scientific adviser by his Indian friend. So the government knows this and some billionaires and high society people are informed and special safe zone is being built. If someone known about this is trying to say to the world are being killed.

We have two hero story, one in the white house and the other is a brave writes. The story is carried by these two persons. One is the fan of the other and it keeps moving fast.

Lot of scenes gets applause in the theater. Particularly the scene where one of .the hero says, ” We are still alive here, its because of my friend from INDIA, who is dead with his family in the Tsunami”.. Many scenes where you cannot believe your eyes like, earthquakes, volcanoes, Tsunami, Landslides and I stopped counting.

In the first half, the limousine is used to run away from the earthquakes, it was amazing and the following shot of the escape in a small plane. where they go in between the falling skyscrapers, metro trains and more.

Bottom Line : Never miss this movie, if missed you are missing something that you shouldn’t.

In what is surely the first blemish ever since wonder car Tata Nano started rolling on the roads, Tata Motors today said it may order a pre-emptive audit check of all 7,500 Nanos despatched so far, taking into account the three incidents of the car catching fire in the last one month. A Nano caught fire in Ahmedabad last month followed by two similar incidents in Lucknow and Delhi yesterday that put serious doubts on the safety aspect of the vehicle.

Delhi-based Sunil Kumar Panwanda claimed his daughter parked the car outside his home early afternoon on Tuesday but the car was on fire after three hours. Panwanda is livid with the company. “I had bought the car for my children and they are now terrified of driving it,” he told TV channel CNBC TV18. “I want the company to refund my money and take back the vehicle.”

Ahmedabad’s Ravindra Bhagat had a similar experience and is now of the belief that a bigger car is better. “I bought the car because Ratan Tata drove and introduced it. I thought this small car will be convenient for daily use in the city. Now, I feel it is better to drive a big car. Even if I get a replacement, I will not accept it,” he told the channel.

But the company played down the incidents saying there was no technical or design fault with the car but only short circuits. “There is no question of recalling any of the cars as there is no technical or design fault with the car. This is not a generic problem,” he added.

Sony has announced the launch of a new 250GB PS3 Slim, in November this year. Back in August, Sony had announced PS3 Slim 120GB for $299 (Rs. 14,500 approx.) and now, 250GB HDD loaded PS3 Slim will cost $349 (Rs. 17,000 approx.). North American consumers will be the first ones to get his 250GB PS3 Slim model from November 3 onwards.

The news about 250GB PS3 Slim model CECH-2000B was dug up on the same day when Slim was announced at GamesCon 2009 Expo.

Sony PlayStation 3 Slim doesn’t offer installing games on the hard drive. However, Sony is pushing PlayStation Network’s 2300 movies through the video delivery service. Some of these are available in High Definition. The PS3 Slim won’t have any game bundled for its U.S. consumers but for Europe region, Sony might bundle a game or may be two.

The new PS3 Slim boasts of consuming 34 percent less power as compared with its previous generation model. PS3 Slim has new 45nm fab process manufactured Cell processor but runs at same clock speed.
