The Tamil Cinema audience has seen some sci-fi movies in the past, but it all were flops for instance Vikram[Kamal hassan], New[SJ Suriyah] are some of them. How could we expect 'Endhiran' to be hit?
Reason for the flop :
The audience were not that much sci-fi lovers
They were not ready to believe these gizmos. But how come the hollywood sci-fi are definately a hit in India? like 'Back to the future', 'Starwars', 'Independence Day', 'Matrix', 'Inception', 'Terminator', 'Robocop' and a never ending list. The reason I believe is that, they have given such a natural output that made us believe what we saw was real. Can the Tamil Industry Technicians do that? Can we bring such a natural output?
This is the real challenge?
The success of visual effects is that, it should not be seen or found out in the film. But the indian cinemas show the graphics part as graphics, its clearly identified like which is real and which is CG.
So this is a big challenge from the CG department. Next is the audience, does our Tamil audience ready to accept another Tamil Sci-Fi movie?
These are to be answered by 'Endhiran'.
Mistakes in Sivaji-The Boss
There were some minor mistakes in Sivaji too, but why did not dir. Shankar aware of it.
1. Car fight at Prathana : Rajini and Shreya were talking in a 'Toyota' SUV, but during the fight and while returning home with a damaged SUV, how could it be a 'Scorpio'
2. Murdering Sivaji Scene : Do we park our van on the RIGHT side of a highway when we go for a tea on the highway? Did you notice where the police have parked their van?
So hope these were carefully watched in 'Endhiran'

God does exist that is why he has sent Rajni on his behalf so he can entertain the mass so that they can forget their worries for those 2.5 hrs. Yes kids will watch this movie which means his movies are not rated A of R.
I don't know why u are worried that Rajni is romancing Ash because Ash has to be worried about it.
Maybe people watching his movies have low IQ because they dont want to ruin the lives of people with High IQ like you as the world would not be able to survive if it had all the 6 billion people with high IQ

I think the main reason the movie is a flop, I think it is a flop, because like someone above said, like all commercial Tamil movies, it is unrealistic. Whether, it's sci-fi Tamil movie or action movie or adventure movie, the hero still manages to fight with 100 villains and defeat them all with minor or no wound at all. You might ask, then why we accept when Superman or Spiderman or Batman fight or some super hero do the same. Because, they make the background likewise, they are not considered as normal people and the technological sequence in those movies fit with the background they lay at the beginning of the movie; a fictional city, alternative/parallel/fictional universe where the laws of this one does not apply or act differently. So, what am saying is, it is an entertaining, unrealistic and dumb movie which you can watch once but no great epic or such. Not worth the money spend on it or the bang the advertisements are producing.
