The movie that was awaited with lot of hopes and ideas, I stepped into the theatre with all these in my mind. It all started with huge applause for AR Rahman, Mani Ratnam, Vikram and Aishwarya Rai.
Intro of the movie started with the kidapping of Aishwarya Rai, it was done well then it went as usual as any other old Tamil movies with the concept of revenge for the sister sentiment. I was wondered if it was a Mani Ratnam film? I waited till the intermission, even then it did not say anything about the way Mani takes the movie.
I waited till the end, even then it did not show any style of Mani Ratnam. The locations were good, but it was not worthy to watch a movie just for the locations and scenery.
Another shock was, AR Rahman's music was not utilized at all. The expected and the hit song ' Usuryae Poguthey ' was played in the background with some dialogues in between and the ' Veera ' song is a title song. Have you imagined this? What a song it was... all wasted by Mani in this film.
Most of the fans were deeply disappointed.
Actor Karthick was wasted, we expected some complex plot when we cam to know Karthick, Priyamani, Ranjith and Prabhu were in the cast. The only happy thing was the good songs from AR Rahman.
People were screaming when each and every song started.
Mani has given tremendous works like 'Agni Natchathiram, Nayagan, Thalapathy, Alaipaayuthey, Kannathil Muthamittaal, Iruvar...' 'Ravanan' does not even stand anywhere near to the previous works. It is not like a Mani's film.
